My thoughts on Metal Sheds

My Thoughts on Metal Sheds

Written by Frank McGill.

Ok, so this time, I want to say a few words on Metal Sheds and Metal Shed Plans.

Metal Sheds are great for routine storage of tools and equipment but there are a few things to realize when you go after a metal shed. They are generally pretty cheap as far as sheds go.

The thing about metal sheds, is that they are not very customizable. You buy them from a store, be it a Home Depot or an online retailer. Plenty are available, but they are generally sold as pre-fab kits. They generally come in standard sizes and shapes. They will require a foundation typically. You won't really be able to modify them a whole lot either. You pretty much take it or leave it.

They are generally cheap to maintain and last for years. On the other hand, if they do develop a problem such as leakage or rust, they are more difficult to repair than a wood shed that you built.

They also do not add a whole lot of value to your house, partly because they don't really look nice. An old metal shed might even detract from the value of your house, whereas an old wood shed will not.

Therefore, if I was going to make a recommendation, I would pass on metal sheds and focus on wood sheds. Of course, that's why I'm here, right?
